The Maine Maritime Museum was founded in 1962 in an effort to save the vast amount of maritime history in the area. Here you will learn about shipbuilding traditions and adventures of seafarers of long ago.
The museum is filled with maritime art, wooden vessels and other memorabilia all housed in historic buildings located on the Kennebec River waterfront. This is an authentic wooden shipyard site from the days gone by. Here too, you can have many opportunities to relive the history of Maine's maritime past. There are scheduled programs such as school activities, boat cruises, and lectures. The museum has one of a kind artifacts and unique maritime historical collections.
Maine's Maritime Museum is open daily 9:30 am to 5:00 pm.
