The Portland Museum of Art displays 300 years of art and architecture. The Museum contains a wide selection of fine and decorative arts. Each year and each season within the year sees the changes taking place in the museum with new exhibits and additions to old exhibits.
From the older artists – Harrison Bird Brown, 1831-1915 - to the more recent ones, the displays and exhibits allow the visitor an up close and personal view of the art of the last three centuries. There are interpretations of landscapes, traditions and the people of Maine. In addition, there are etchings, lithographs and woodcuts ranging from the late 1800s to the early 1920s.
The Museum also sponsors art classes, music, lectures and many more interactive experiences with art.
